Official Rules and Regulations – Elementary & Middle Schools
HOW TO ENTER: Grand Prize: To enter, starting at 12:00:01 a.m. CST Tuesday September 6, 2005, students who have completed sixty (60) minutes of physical activity each day for a total of five (5) days a week for six (6) weeks will receive a certificate signed by Governor Jim Doyle, an award and be automatically entered into their school sweepstakes. Entrants must have registered at www.wisconsinchallenge.org/www.presidentschallenge.org and tracked their activity within an award program. Eligible entrants must register and create an online account at www.wisconsinchallenge.org/www.presidentschallenge.org and log their sixty (60) minutes of activity for five (5) days in six (6) weeks in order to be eligible. Completion of the Active Lifestyle Award or a Presidential Champions Award will be taken as evidence of program completion.
There will be at least five hundred (500) Trek Bikes available to be won. Bikes will be awarded one (1) per each elementary and middle school within Wisconsin. Each prize will consist of one (1) gift certificate to the local Trek Bike dealer in the area to be used towards the purchase of Trek 3500, Trek Mt. Track or a Trek Tike bike. Approximate retail value $250.
All prizes must be accepted as awarded and will not be substituted or redeemed for their cash value. Should the prize described above no longer be available at the time of the claim, Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge and Trek Bicycle Corp. reserves the right to substitute another prize of equal or greater value. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received in each school within the state of Wisconsin.
WINNER SELECTION: Grand Prize: Five hundred (500) random draws will be conducted by the independent judges commencing on or about December 2, in each participating Wisconsin school from all eligible entries received to date. All winners will be required to sign a standard release form releasing Wisconsin Governors Challenge and their advertising and promotional agencies from all liability. If the selected entrant is a minor, the prize award will be made to their parent / legal guardian who must sign and complete the release on their behalf.
This contest is open to all elementary and middle school students who attend an elementary or middle school in the state of Wisconsin. As a condition of winning and prior to being awarded a prize, eligible winners (or their parent or legal guardian if under the age of majority in their city of residence) will be required to sign and return a release form confirming compliance with the Full Contest Rules, acceptance of the prize awarded, and releasing Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge, their respective advertising and promotional agencies, participating retailers and sponsors, and their respective employees from any and all liability arising in connection with the contest and the prize. All eligible winners, by entering this contest, agree to the use of their name, school name, city of residence, voice, photograph and/or image without notice or compensation, in any subsequent publicity or advertising in connection with this contest. All Prize Claims become the property of Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge and none will be returned. Decisions of the independent contest judging organization are final. The Contest Sponsors are not responsible for lost, misdirected or delayed prize claims.
The contest is governed by the laws of the state of Wisconsin and the United States. Any action brought by any participant or any party to enforce, or otherwise related to, these rules shall be brought in the state and federal courts located in Dane County, Wisconsin; by participating, you expressly acknowledge and consent to the jurisdiction of such courts. In the event any provision of these rules is found to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the validity, legality and enforceability of any of the remaining provisions shall not in any way be affected or impaired. Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge retains all copyright and other intellectual property rights in the contest and accompanying materials.

Also, there will be three (3) physical exercise equipment to be won and will be awarded to three (3) high school students in the state of Wisconsin. Approximate retail value $1,000. Additional prizes may be made available.

In order to win each selected entrant will be contacted by email, mail or phone and must be eligible according to the official rules. In the event a selected entrant cannot be contacted within 10 DAYS of prize notification, another selected entrant will be randomly chosen from the high school entry pool. All winners will be required to sign a standard release form releasing Wisconsin Governors Challenge and their advertising and promotional agencies from all liability. If the selected entrant is a minor, the prize award will be made to their parent / legal guardian who must sign and complete the release on their behalf.

Every time a participant completes the challenge will qualify and automatically be entered for the first prize draw.
Participants will be able to contribute their activity from September 6, 2005 to December 2, 2005.

Limit one registration per person for the first prize draw. In the event that your name is not pulled for the first prize draw, you will automatically be entered for the secondary prize draw. In the event that Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge receives more than one (1) registration per person, Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge reserves the right to void and destroy duplicate registrations. By submitting a registration, participants agree to be bound by these rules.
The contact information collected by the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge with your registration will only be used to identify and contact the prize winners. The Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge will not use this personal information for any other reason. Nor will the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge disclose this personal information to any other party.

Eligibility
The contest is open to all elementary, middle and high school students who attend a school within the state of Wisconsin only. The contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and municipal laws. Contest void where prohibited by law.
Registrations must be signed up at www.wisconsinchallenge.org/www.presidentschallenge.org by no later than December 2, 2005 at 12:00AM (CST) at which time the contest closes. Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge take no responsibility for registrations that are lost, misdirected, delayed, or received after the contest deadline. Limit one (1) entry per person for the prize draws. In the event that the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge receives more than one (1) registration per person for the prize draws, the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge reserves the right to void and destroy duplicate registrations. By submitting a registration entry, participants agree to be bound by these rules.
Entrants agree that neither Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge nor the other contest sponsors shall be liable or responsible for any failure of the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge web site during the contest nor for any problems or technical malfunctions with respect to telephone lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software or any failure thereof or Internet traffic congestion, or any combination thereof including injury or damage to an entrant’s or third party’s computer. The Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge reserves the right to cancel or suspend the Internet portion of this contest should a virus or any other factor beyond the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge’s control corrupt the security or administration of the contest. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are mutilated, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.
A random draw for elementary and middle school prizes will be held at each participating school on or around December 2, 2005, from all eligible entries received on or before the contest closing date. The chances of being selected depend on the total number of eligible entries received for each draw.
A random drawing for the high school prizes will be held at or around 3:00PM (CST) on December 6, 2005 at 101 East Wilson Street, 8th Floor, Madison, Wisconsin, from all eligible entries received on or before the contest closing date. The chances of being selected depend on the total number of eligible entries received for each draw.
Prizes
Every time a participant completes the challenge they will qualify for the first prize draw and automatically be entered.
Elementary and Middle School
- First Prize (500 winners) - One (1) Trek Bike ($250 value)
High School
- First Prize (1 winner) - One (1) $5,000 Scholarship ($5,000 value)
- Second Prize (3 winners) – Three (3) Personal Fitness Exercise Equipment ($1,000 value)
All amounts are in U.S. dollars. All State and Federal taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winners.
Acceptance of Prize
As a condition to receiving a prize, each winner must sign a release form confirming compliance with the rules and acceptance of the prize as awarded, and acknowledging the non-responsibility of the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge, with regard to any injury, accident, loss and/or misfortune related to any aspects of the prize. If the winner is a minor, the recipient of the prize must have a parent or legal guardian sign the release form on behalf of the minor.
The Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge or its appointed designee shall deliver the prize to the winner where applicable.
Prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be exactly as shown. No substitutions are available except the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and have no cash value.
Selected elementary and middle school entrants will be notified in person during the end of the challenge event held at their school. Selected elementary and middle school entrants will then complete the release form by the date specified by the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge.
Selected high school entrants will be notified by telephone or e-mail within ten (10) days of the draw. Selected high school entrants will then have five (5) days following receipt thereof to contact the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge to claim their prize. Should the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge not receive confirmation by the date specified or complete the release form by the date specified, selected entrant will be deemed to have forfeited any rights to the prize and a back-up entrant will be selected in the same manner by random draw taken from the same pool of entries.
By entering the challenge and accepting a prize, the winner or parent/legal guardian of the winner, consents to the use of their name, contest entry and photograph by the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge for publicity purposes.
The Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge reserves the right to cancel or suspend a contest in the event of any printing or administrative error. The Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge and its sponsors are not responsible for preemption, cancellation, or interruption, in whole or in part, of any the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge contest related programming.
